Episode 31: The Future of Downtown

IMG_8552The Downtown Partnership recently hosted its first annual State of Downtown report, full of stats and facts and other economic data about where the downtown core is going. In this episode we bring Sarah Harris, the Downtown Partnership’s Director of Business Development and Economic Vitality, in to the studio to talk about the report, the highlights of the downtown’s development and when we might actually get a grocery store in the downtown core. Later on in the show we check in with Jeff’s recent shenanigans at the Colorado Spring Business Journal’s Rising Star awards and City Councilman’s Tom Strand’s efforts to dance with Jeff’s wife.

In the show we touch briefly on the fact that the downtown is within a special taxing district that helps fund some of the projects downtown. If you are curious as to what a special taxing district does, and why they can be problematic in some cities John Oliver has a great segment on them that you can check out below.
