The blue pinwheels you see around town this month represent a commitment to prevent child abuse in our community. This week on the show we sit down with Wilene Lampert, the Executive Director of Safe Passage, to talk about Child Abuse Prevention Month and what we, as a community, can do to make our town a safer place for kids. Get your stats & facts and some interesting info on the non-profits in our community that are working hard to help kids heal.
As Wilene says, “All adults are responsible for providing a safe place for kids to grow up.” If you are worried about kiddo in your life, you can call the statewide Child Abuse Hotline to be directed to an area representative that will make sure they are safe and well taken care of. That number is 1-844-CO-4-KIDS. (Find out more about hotline use HERE)
In this episode we mention a TEDTalk by Dr. Nadine Burke Harris. It covers the ACE Study and a movement to start early childhood trauma treatment as soon as possible and as part of regular medical attention. You can watch this short talk at this link.
Thanks for listening and thanks for protecting all the vulnerable ones in our community.
