City Councilwoman Jill Gaebler joins us to talk about local Colorado Springs politics. Gaebler just announced her run for re-election for District 5 (downtown area). Tune in to hear what local concerns are on her mind, and what we can expect in the future. In this episode we talk about global warming, land use, infill and development, and the PlanCOS initiative to get community feedback on our town’s trajectory. We also bring up a little skeleton from Jill’s closet and the future of bike share and bicycle infrastructure.
If you haven’t completed your PlanCOS survey and shared your opinions about the future of Colorado Springs, you can do so at this link: https://coloradosprings.gov/plancos
We also dive into Colorado Springs Forward, recently covered by the Colorado Springs Independent. Jill helps us understand their role in local politics and some of the policy changes that CSF supports. We recommend reading the article and listening to Jill’s experience to help understand their role here.
If you haven’t been to Willamette Market and Deli – a great neighborhood spot we use as a positive example of community buy-in in this show – check them out. 749 E. Willamette.
The City Council election will be April 4th and we will bring you a lot more before you cast your vote. Stay tuned!
