The Colorado Springs airport, our little air hub to the east, is more than a sometimes convenient airport for getting to Vegas. It is a huge economic driver for our city, and one that we would all benefit from if it was busier. Tune in this week as Jeff and Darcie break down the ins and outs of Colorado Springs Municipal Airport. We cover its status as a public enterprise and what exactly that means, we also take a look at its budget and general structure. But most importantly we examine why having a strong airport in a city helps to make the city a more economically viable place to live.
For some more reading on why airports are good for cities check out this piece from City Lab.
We also talk a little Dryanuary, with a quick update on who is out and who is still going strong. Darcie also talks about the return of a great speaking series to town, the City Center Series. This month’s speaker is Gil Penalosa, the founder of the non-profit 8 80 cities. We will be there and encourage you to come and see how designing cities good for 8 and 80 year olds makes a city great for everyone. Thanks for listening!
