In this week’s episode we follow up on our show discussing the downtown stadium (Episode 122: How to Fund a Stadium) and sit down with Switchbacks FC President Nick Ragain to discuss the stadium from the point of view of one of the private entities that would benefit from the stadium project.
Nick walks us through how the Switchbacks got involved with the City for Champions process and why a soccer stadium might be a better fit for the downtown than a baseball field. We also discuss how the public funding would work for the stadium and how the team would benefit, and what they stand to lose.
This show is a good one if you are curious about how public funding for private enterprise can work and how the city may (or may not) benefit from such a project. Enjoy the show!
