Episode 149: The Grand Finale of the Waldo Waldo

Ep 149 Title

Started in 2012 as a response to the Waldo Canyon Fire, the Waldo Waldo 5K has been one of the most popular and fun races in downtown COS. As the Waldo Canyon area moves into the next stage of development, the race has come full circle. This year we say goodbye to the Waldo Waldo with one final running on October 20th, 2018.

This week we have on the race organizer Chelise, and Jennifer Peterson – the Executive Director the Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI), to talk about how the race brought the city together and helped groups like RMFI rehabilitate the Waldo burn scar. We chat about the origins of the race, where those Waldo costumes come from, what restoration looks like and where Waldo Canyon, and the race organizers, go from here.

Enjoy the show!
